Description

The World That Never Was. An empty world, in which Heartless roam. So much so, anyone in possesion of a heart wouldn't last so much as a second in this desolate world. That's why it is home to Nobodies. Beings who possess no living heart what so ever. Those particular to this 'condition' were Organization XIII, and it would be ever so often when a member would find themselves outside the castle walls, roaming the empty city. A lone figure seemed to wander today. A Nobody, from the castle and a recent member of the Organization, although the girl would much rather be anywhere but in the Organization. She was rather pretty but she never considered herself 'knock your socks off, drop dead gorgeous' rather 'naturally pretty but also quite bland and boring.' she also went for the more gothic look, wearing a long sleeved, high collared leather coat, with two side tails, done up three quarters of the way up her chest, still revealing a generous amount of cleavage. Her skirt was black, much like her coat however it was stranded with a dark green ribbon, tied into bows at the hem of it. She wore high knee platform boots in which she had taken weeks to master to walk in. Her hair was cut in a short messy style, and was dyed a dark green, close to the color of dark poison ivy leaves. Her eyes were a bland red and narrowed, giving effect to the blank expression she always wore. Luckily walking down the streets of the city weren't crowded over with the Shadows that usually were there and any that strayed into her path, eventually scuttled away. All was fairly quiet when rapid footsteps echoed down the alleyway the gothic girl was walking down, causing her to lift her head and frown. She stopped as the footsteps neared and finally she turned, almost having a brunette female collide into her. She gasped and apologised, however continued to run down the alleyway after a couple seconds. The gothic girl stared after the brunette as she tried to process what had happened. She'd only caught a glance at the girl, noting the auburn hair, mid-length, with a blue streak on her left. She saw her eyes, well at least the one that wasn't covered by hair, were green, almost filled with kindness but also with fear and pain. She never got to see her full outfit but got a blur of green, blue and red as she ran past. The girl decided that she wanted to make sure the brunette was okay, and even though she may have no heart, or no feelings, expressing them wasn't hard. She continued to walk down the alley, now following the path in which she had seen the brunette go in and stopped as a light scream rung out of a building. The goth found a gap in a wall in which she quickly glanced through spotting the brunette standing in the middle of the empty room. Making her way through the gap and into the room, the girl decided it best to hide in the shadows as she watched the brunette search round the room desperatly. She must have been talking to something she could see as the girl saw that her lips were moving slowly however she couldn't quite make out what she was saying. The brunette suddenly stopped and froze almost as the girl watched the unthinkable happen. The brunette's hair began to darken, change color even, turning a dark twilight blue. Her clothes; the aqua top, brown corset, red skirt and green split stockings also began to change as they became more rough and tighter. A belt was wrapped around her waist almost like a snake and a similar bracelet replaced the 5 brightly colored ones that were there before. The red corset and violet skirt matched well with the style of darkness as she turned to look round the room. There was one thing that the gothic girl noticed about the blunette. The tattoo's that occupied her right arm, face and chest, just above her breast bone. And oddly enough the tattoo on her arm was almost alive, moving slightly as she searched round the dark walls surrounding her.
"I know you're there." she giggled darkly. "Come out, come out where ever you are." she sung lightly, looking behind her. The gothic girl frowned, noting she was no longer hidden and stepped out from the shadows just as the blunette glanced in her direction. She smiled and opened her arms laughing softly. "You see. There you are. What are you afraid of? Come over here. Don't stand over there by your lonesome." the gothic girl took a cautious step towards the other and stopped, making no further movements. The blunette smiled wider and sighed never looking away from her. "Why don't you tell me your name?" the blunette half asked half demanded and the girl nodded, looking away from the stare of the other's oddly colored eyes. Blue but with a red pupil, which made the girl a little uneasy.
"My name is Xenon." she replied, looking back up at the other.
"Xenon. Well, I am Kaine. Pleased to make your aquaintance." Kaine bowed slightly and looked back up at Xenon. "Please, don't look so scared. I'm not going to hurt you." she stepped towards Xenon and took her hand pulling her over to a large piece of debris in which she sat on, beckoning Xenon to do the same. Xenon complied and sat next to Kaine, still a little wary about the girl.
"What happened?" Xenon asked, gaining a confused look from Kaine.
"What happened?" Kaine repeated, confused.
"To the other girl. The brown haired one, with the blue streak." Kaine's eyes narrowed.
"Oh. Her. Well, she's fine, I can assure you. Don't worry about her." Kaine took Xenon's hand and smiled. Xenon was unsure on how much contact she could take with this girl. And she was still concerned about the 'other' girl. Kaine smiled at looked at Xenon kindly, although Xenon doubted that this girl far from kind.
"So, what are you doin here in this empty world?" she asked, her eyes glowing brightly in the darkness. Xenon never changed her expression but rather just stared blankly, trying to find an escape from this perculiar girl.
"I live here." she replied calmly. Kaine became surprised but smiled none the less as she looked round the room's shadowed walls.
"You live here?" she repeated, Xenon noted she did that a lot, and laughed softly. "I'd never expect a girl like yourself to live here." Xenon swallowed nervously and moved her eyes to look at the floor.
"Well, this is where I live. Not here exactly, but up in the castle." Kaine nodded, showing an almost intrest in Xenon's words. She stood quickly, causing Xenon to watch her carefully.
"Well, why don't you show me where you live?"
"You wouldn't like it. It's not much to look at." she sighed and closed her eyes. "Not even I like it there." she opened her eyes and sighed again. "I'd rather be anywhere than here." Kaine looked thoughtful for a while before smirking gently and placing her hands on her hips.
"Well that sure is a shame." she stated. "I best be going in a minute. Ya know, I got some places to be." but knowing that fact, Kaine didn't really have anywhere to go. She just wanted to see what Xenon would do. She could probably use the company. Xenon nodded and stood also, looking to the gap in which she came in.
"I suppose so. I have a feeling I need to get back too." Kaine watched as Xenon headed for the gap and frowned. She followed the girl and stood in the alley as Xenon begun walking away.
"Hey Xenon. We're friends now right?" Kaine capled lightly, making Xenon turn to look back at her. She shrugged a reply and continued walking, leaving Kaine to stand on her own. The sky was still dark, maybe even darker before a light roll of thunder was heard and rain started to pour from the skies. Xenon closed her eyes and sighed as she felt the rain pelt her skin and drenching her hair. Never is there a day that goes by when there isn't rain. She shook her head lightly before looking up, a light patter of footsteps echoing behind her. She turned and saw the brunette that she bumped into eariler. Her kind eyes gazed apon Xenon as the girl stared back at her.
"Xenon?"
"Yes?" Xenon was unsure on how she knew her name.
"I was wondering, if you'd help me." Xenon raised a brow.
"Help you?" the brunette nodded. "How?"
"Well, I suppose you could come with me." she held out a hand to Xenon, leaving the girl to just stare at it blankly. She looked back up to see the girls back was turned and frowned lightly.
"Is this some sort of game to you?" she asked, steppind towards her. She stopped as the girl laughed softly, noting that her two halves were different in appearence.
"Well, Xenon. I suppose it is." Xenon frowned.
"You're Kaine. Both of you."
"However did you guess?"
"It wasn't exactly hard."
"Well you know what they say. There are always two sides to every story."
"Then if these are your two sides, I accept them both." Kaine turned and looked at Xenon surprised.
"Huh?"
"I accept who you are. If you have two sides to your story then so be it. Why pick one side when you can easily accept both." Xenon smiled lightly and nodded. She reached out a hand. "Let us journey together if it what you so truly desire. If not, then leave me here. Either which way, it does not matter to me." Kaine smiled and took Xenon's hand.
"Well, I guess it'd be okay to have a friend." Kaine grinned wider. "Or maybe more than a friend." Xenon sighed and shrugged, shaking Kaines hand firmly before letting go and smiling softly.
"So where to Kaine? Lead the way."

This is a contest entry for DeadMan-Alchemist's contest on at :iconxxkingdomheartsocxx:

I know it might be really early but I have school soon, so I might forget to draw and submit my entry. So i made it and submitted it early so I didn't forget.

I didn't quite know how to portray the two (or three) characters and I had a lot of ideas but I finally managed to draw one. It might not have come out as good as I expected it to, but i wrote the long short story to hopefully make up for the lack of amazing artwork.  ^^;

But here is both sides of Kaine and Xenon.
